What is it that can ensure that your search for happiness in life is successful? We all want to know the answer to that one don't we? Well, the answer may lie in the fact that we often tend to judge our own level of success based on the points of view of other people. This can definitely mar your thinking, and your attitude towards your self. People constantly feel that they need to fit in to the guidelines set by society, to be called successful.

Today's philosophy of thought ensures that we find someone or something to blame every time something goes wrong in our lives. People often blame their spouses for the failing relationship. How many times do we blame the parents because we think we took the wrong profession?

Are these not just excuses and should we not come to terms with the fact that the only one who can really help us is our own self? If that is true then it is also true that the only one who can really harm us is us! When you realize this in life, you stop complaining and you stop bickering. You pick up the pieces of your life and you can build a masterpiece of it if you wish to. It is easy to blame others for our mishaps and difficult to work towards a better tomorrow, and maybe that is why we sometimes choose the former option.

You can make a lot of plans to attain happiness in life, but the truth is that life can spring up a few surprises every now and again that can ruin a plan. Do not let this dishearten you, and understand that life may have planned something better for you than what you had planned for your self.

Another key area to look into is the persistent efforts to reach our goals quickly. We sometimes work so hard that we forget that we do have people around us who may not be tomorrow, and these people can in fact give immense happiness in life. It is only too common to hear a spouse complain that the partner has 'no time for me', and that is really a pity. You end up working for money so hard, that you do not have time to enjoy it with your loved ones. The answer lies, in striking a balance in time management. Work is important, but so are people.

When you recognize the people that make you happy, you will automatically start spending more time making them happy as well. All it takes is putting it all down on paper. Make a list of all that is reasonably within your reach that can make you happy, and make sure they are a part of your life.
