Many of us consider ourselves computer literate and yet spam can cause us as much concern as it does those who know very little about the dangers of spam. The only way to keep our email inbox secure is to use a good filtering email program, which will "dam that spam". It is very important to remember spam is often far more than an unwanted or unsolicited piece of junk mail we can just dump into the wastebasket.

The best feeling one can have while searching through incoming mail is a feeling of insecurity because insecurity in the end will be our security against harmful, spam email. Possessing a feeling of insecurity is a good defense against potentially harmful email from someone or some company with whom we are unfamiliar. The email may appear friendly because the author used our first name pretending to be a friend. This is just a ploy to rouse our curiosity driving us to open the Email. The first response to an email from an unknown person or company even when it begins with our first name is click/spam. Security means caution and caution means security.

Email is a good thing in the lives of people everywhere and keeps us connected with family, friends and neighbors. Email is a means for people of all ages and backgrounds to communicate with friends and family. Many people no longer send christmas and other special occasion cards and letters but use email to send caring messages. Email is a wonderful way for those who are unable to get out of their homes due to age or disability to keep in touch with others.

Email is the way legitimate companies let us know they received our online order for a product and this gives us a feeling of security. Email is also a means for legitimate businesses to communicate with potential buyers regarding their services or material goods. There are more good reasons for email than there are negative reasons for email. However, there is a serious problem with some email.

There is a downside to email and we call this downside a simple four, letter word, SPAM. Our challenge is to dam that spam, which fills so many "email inboxes". A good spam filtering service recognizes emails of a suspicious nature and deposits these into a spam folder. Every time we receive an email in our inbox, which we consider junk or unsolicited mail, we need to click the spam button. Clicking the spam button trains our filtering program to recognize the mail we personally consider spam. Security against spam is so important because spam messages can contain viruses, spyware, adware and other harmful applications, which can harm our computer. Be secure never open spam.
