Post Surgery

It can take up to six months to completely recover from the surgery so make sure to take things slowly. Right after your surgery should make sure to keep hydrated and wear compression garments (this helps the healing process by keeping your muscles and skin from moving around). You CANNOT use heating pads or ice packs on your surgery areas, use hydrogen peroxide or band-aids on your incision site; soak in a bath, swimming pool or ocean. These can all cause infections at the site of your surgery. Make sure that you move slowly especially when standing up after urinating, and when removing compression garments. Make sure you have help during your first shower and if you start to feel lightheaded or dizzy sit down immediately.
