Since, business coaching is a powerful business tool today, it is necessary that you recruit a business coach who is proficient and provides you with competent services. Although, business coaching does not necessitate any academic qualification or specific training, it does call for a coach who is well versed with the business environment. Hence, make it a point to hire only those who have some relevant experience and skills in the field of business coaching.

Since business coaching is based on mutual understanding and cooperation, the ideal business coach is one who is able to build a good rapport with his client and communicate effectively with the management. He should be able to comprehend not only your problems, but also your aspirations. He is one who makes you feel immediately comfortable and totally at ease so that you can discuss your difficulty and deal with it, without any hesitation.

It is advisable to hold an initial business session with him so that both of you get acquainted. This also gives you a chance to gain an insight in to his style of working and allows him to get familiar with the culture of your organization. To make the most of business coaching, it is strongly recommended that you recruit coaches only through referrals from associates and other business entrepreneurs, so that you can take maximum advantage of business coaching.

To ensure cent percent success of business coaching, it is vital that a business coach is completely involved with the client's problems and stays committed to help his client to discover the solution. Dedication and devotion to the coaching assignment from the coach's side, calls for developing a genuine interest in the client's difficulties. A proficient business coach should be able to prove his confidence, experience and knowledge about the coaching program to the client, thereby instilling confidence in his client.

The business coach should make it a point to clearly establish the entire coaching process with this client so that they know what to expect and will not be disappointed. This will also obviously help to avoid any misunderstandings later. He should precisely convey his role and responsibilities and also the strategies that he will use ion order to render effective business coaching.

A good coach is one who is able to instill positive qualities like self-esteem and confidence in his 'coachee'. He should at all times be a guiding and a motivating factor and provide the necessary and right directions. He should be able to combine efforts into one team so that all under coaching can work towards the accomplishment of one common goal. He should adopt an approach that the management is able to accept readily and willingly.

A business coach should make the optimum use of his coaching skills and expertise. A business coach also has to show significant growth and developmental changes and improvements in the corporate culture through networking, marketing and selling. A good business coach is like a mentor and not merely a business counselor. He provides tailor made coaching sessions that are perfectly in line with your business needs and requirements.
