The treasures of Marbella include sandy shores, parks and gardens, nightlife, shopping, golf, orange trees and great weather.

Visiting Marbella is generally considered as a beach holiday providing lots of sun, sea and sand. However, it should be noted that although the sea shores are a major attraction of this destination, Marbella does offer other things to do, in addition to sitting on the beach. An attractive site in the Costa del Sol situated between Malaga and Marbella is the Crocodile Park at Torremolinos. Amazed visitors may find themselves faced with sights of prehistoric monsters that have managed to survive and defy centuries of evolution. It is believed that these creatures have been around for millions of years.

The Crocodile Park provides a great and unusual activity suitable for all the family. The Park hosts over 300 crocodiles of various ages and sizes, some that weigh over 500 kilo! In addition to the range of crocodiles, crocodile nursery, and educational videos in a special educational area, visitors may enjoy live demonstrations by experienced staff members. Feeding time is a particularly popular attraction at this site. The Crocodile Park also houses other animals including exotic birds and prairie dogs. Tourists may also visit an African museum within the park that includes a cafe and gift shop.

Guests to the Crocodile Park may view the crocodiles at close range while remaining completely safe. This venue provides a suitable and attractive outing for travelers of all ages. It should be noted that children under the age of twelve must be accompanied by an adult. There is a part of the park where visitors may even touch small crocodiles. This is the time to take photographs! An exciting feature of the Crocodile Park is the presence of the massive crocodile 'Paco'. The Park boasts that this is the largest crocodile in Europe, weighing in at 600 kilo with a length of 4.6 meters.

Crocodile Park Opening Times

During the months of March, April, May, October and November, the Crocodile Park is open from 10 am to 6 pm. In the peak summer months of July, August and September opening hours are from 10am to 7 pm. During December, January and February, the Crocodile Park is open from 10 am until 5 pm. It should be noted that there are daily guided tours which take place at 11:30am, 1:30pm and 3:30pm.

Marbella offers a wide range of vacations rental options, in addition to hotel rooms. Rented apartments and villas are available as are guest houses. This means that the holiday-maker may select the desired type of accommodation according to the available budget. From wherever a tourist may choose to stay within Marbella, the Crocodile Park is accessible by a short drive of about thirty minutes. This destination provides an interesting day out and an enjoyable variation from a day at the beach.
