Political - Wake Up Democrats (Part 2)November 20, 2008Home Law & Politics World Affairs Tags: Political, politics, democrats, republicans, news,
Let's continue with more Democratic "hopefuls" for the 2008 Presidential election. None have announced that they will seek election, but don't be surprised if they do.
U.S. Senator Joseph R. Biden Jr. of Delaware: Senator Biden has been around long enough that most of us clearly know who he is. He is a moderate with an anti-crime agenda. There has probably never been a better time for him to "throw his hat in the ring." Retired Army General Wesley K. Clark from Arkansas: One of the things holding Wesley Clark back is that he is just too honest. The American people seem to like candidates that "didn't inhale," rather than vote for a "straight shooter;" although, the American people did elect Ronald Reagan twice. With the right public relations people behind him, Wesley Cark could go a long way. He is a moderate, with a proven military record, and could be acceptable to any region of the United States. Wesley Clark has the best resume of all the democratic "hopefuls" for 2008. He was a Rhodes Scholar, first in his class at West Point; he has a Masters Degree in Economics from Oxford, former Commander of NATO forces, and was a 4-star general. Former U.S. Senator John R. Edwards from North Carolina: John Edwards is another moderate and best known as Senator John Kerry's running mate in the 2004 Presidential election. Being from the Southern United States is a strong point, but his time off the Senate floor could leave him "out of the loop." Nevertheless, he is still a strong candidate and should have some strong contributions for the 2008 Democratic Party platform. The Presidential Election issues are much larger and clearer for 2008. Education, health care, and the economy are all on the forefront. These issues are now much more than catch phrases. American troops do not have to stay as "peace keepers" in countries that have their own freely elected governments. National security will always be important. However, we have to find ways to protect ourselves without going bankrupt in the process. The final Presidential candidate, at the 2008 Democratic Convention, should be someone who can change the country for the best, get us "back on track," and a person who Americans can really trust. © Copyright 2005 - Paul Jerard / Aura Publications Article Source: http://www.tips.com.my About the Author: Paul Jerard is director of Yoga teacher training at Aura in RI. Filled with treats, necessities, and greetings, a care package can be a huge morale booster for those far from home - especially during the holidays. "Mail is one of the greatest morale boosters we can give our troops during the holiday," said Postmaster General John E. Potter. Populism has failed everywhere and there's no reason to expect any change. Tags: politics, government, Latin America, Mexico, Chavez, Some of our "allies," or former allies, will bow to terrorism. This is fine, if you can accept innocent civilians being murdered on your own soil. You cannot satisfy someone who believes your existence is a sin. As Russian President, Vladimir Putin, said, "We are not even enemies, as far as they're concerned. We're just dust. ..." Tags: Iraq, politics, president, why, United States, The rest of the world is puzzled by this sudden "about face" in the care for human rights. The terrorists and our former allies should get a copy of an American history book. We haven't forgotten 911, and we are not "sheep." Part of our culture is warm and loving, while another part of our culture is decisive, bold, militaristic, and wants immediate retribution. Tags: news, society, government, politics, 911, Instead of complaining about how bad the next three years will be, Democrats now have the opportunity to produce a viable "front runner." It really shouldn't be that hard to find a candidate who can identify with the American people. Tags: Political, politics, democrats, republicans, news, There seems to be some confusion between patriotism and common sense lately. This is what most nationalistic movement's bank on. No one should speak up with the voice of reason; if you do, you will be shouted down, called a coward, and publicly shamed. Tags: Iraq, politics, president, why, United States, The continuing failure of US and UK policy to stablise and pacify Iraq has led to a review of current operations and an evaluation of strategic options. Tags: Iraq, George Bush, Tony Blair, Turkey, Iran, There were many cynical analysts, both in the West as well as the Middle East, who viewed the invasion of Iraq as a scarcely concealed attempt to take control of the country's immense oil wealth. This opinion is now becoming a reality. Tags: Iraq, Oil, George Bush, Dick Cheney, Halliburton, US and UK strategies are Iraq are beginning to diverge. George Bush still believes that a victory remains possible, whereas Tony Blair is considering partition of Iraq and has been discussing this with Turkey.
